This moodboard was not easy to finish. I started this board immediately after completing the first one, thinking that it would be easy to keep myself on a roll. Little did I know at that time, about halfway through the week I would have created an Addams family-esque nightmare. It at one point kind of looked like the Hulk designed a room from the Middle Ages and it was a mess.

I took a few days off, took a step back, and went back to work. I'm so happy with the result because it turned out being something totally out of my comfort zone and something that I would have never thought of designing for myself. (I'm pretty sure if I'm working in this industry, I need to adapt my tastes for clients so this is probably good practice.) A not so subtle obsession of mine is succulents; I took the succulent arrangement above and thought- how could I bring these elements into a cohesive space? A rich room with greens, purples, and neutrals was the result.

I am pleased. Maybe next week I'll cruise back on into my comfort zone because this green and purple combo took me way out there. Knowing myself, probably I'll come up with an even larger challenge for next week.

Hey! I don't understand the color choices. Why did you pair malachite green with plum, black, white, and dark grey? Also, the curtains seem really busy when next to the wallpaper. The first thing I look at is those curtains and my eyes don't look at anything else.

Hey there Alvin! First off, thank you so much for reading my blog.

My color choices were mostly based on natural succulent colors. If you look up succulents on google, many of the top photos show green and purple mixing together in harmony. I challenged myself to try to incorporate those two colors in a room together.

The curtains were honestly the hardest thing to source for this space. Looking at them now, I do see that the room is a bit busy. My choice was based on breaking up the pattern of the wallpaper with another pattern, since the room is dominated by solids. If I had spent more time on sourcing, I think that I would have found a better alternative to those strong stripes. (If there's anything that you can think of that may look better in this space, I'm always open to links of suggestions!)

Also, most rooms have a solid base of neutrals so that the colors can pop. I played around with the idea of choosing more whites, golds, or creams as my foundation rather than blacks and greys. Honestly, the blacks and greys appealed to me more since there was already quite a bit of white from the bottom of the wall, so that's where the rest of my color choices came from.
